Title: Heritage Consciousness. Oil on Canvas
2011, Artist Collection

First Exhibited at: Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester WC SA

How do you depict consciousness in such a way that it relates to an audience, without a non-figurative interpretation? This piece opened the door to a series of paintings about consciousness. Consciousness symbolized as red (blood, ruby or red velvet).

Title: Journey. Oil on Canvas

Title: Cycle of consciousness. Oil on Canvas
2011, Artist Collection

First Exhibited at: Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester WC SA

The current thinking is that the physical world started with the big bang 13.8 billion years ago, but when did life or consciousness started? Could it be that life is a byproduct of a galactic process from unrefined to refined chemical reactions, composed on or after a combination of elements to develop molecules to a memory bank of DNA? The pyramid is regarded as a symbol of the sun, on the horizon (in line but far from the viewpoint) but in relation to the conscious filled temple, the ruins of three pillars and one pillar covered by consciousness. Was consciousness the energy to initiate the physical world?.

Title: Economic consciousness. Oil on Canvas
2011, Artist Collection

First Exhibited at: Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester WC SA

I am not a big fan of the world of economics but it has its own special way to convert, transfer and exchange energy to something physical such as a gold coin and paper money. Years ago the local shop owner sold goods from a single building close to the customers.

Title: Temple Nebula. Oil on Canvas
2011, Private Collection

First Exhibited at: Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester WC SA

We are made of star dust. As a main sequence star our sun’s initial job is to convert hydrogen into helium. The next phase is most probably to grow up to be a red giant one day (in about 3.5 million years from now) with the task to make heavier elements up to iron. The next phase is to create heavier element than iron, and that energy comes from a super novae, a massive explosion leaving clouds of dust called a nebula. What do you want to be one day?

Title: Natural consciousness. Oil on Canvas
2011, Artist Collection

First Exhibited at: Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester WC SA

Up to this point I was done with buildings and approached the content of this painting with something different and since trees as a symbol of growth appear regularly in my paintings, consciousness in nature was explored.

Title: Family consciousness. Oil on Canvas
2011, Artist Collection

First Exhibited at: Hugo Naude Gallery, Worcester WC SA

I am sure that by now I would consider the idea of being a narrative symbolist. From the floor view supports the concept of growth. The sky at the top represents the past, the border, the trees, with the four figures in the present facing the central portal of the trees from the left and right, the future. Heading is always about where you have been, where you are and where you going to. It’s constantly about our actions in the present that forces us to consider the status of our comfort zone. As security conscious individuals being part of a family, creating a family develops the expectation of a family.
